In September MMF held its first Talk in the Pop-Up shop in Fremlin Walk. After the extensive periods of lockdown it was good to meet up again with fellow Friends.
Robin Ambrose, the local historian and writer, was our first speaker – and what a fascinating story he had to tell. This was about the area of Sandling – the area that straddles Sandling Road in Maidstone, leading out North from the centre of the town. It encompasses Sandling, Boarley, Boxley Abbey, other big houses, farms and the riverside. He also touched on the former zoo at Cobtree Park.
Mark Baker, MMF Chair, provided news about the ongoing activities of Friends and plans for events until Christmas.
The event was attended by 20 people who all, judging by the feedback received, had a thoroughly enjoyable time. The additional good news is that Robin has agreed to give another presentation in September 2022
