February 2024
Maidstone United’s historic run in the 2023/24 FA Cup has brought television coverage to the Friends’ Shop.
For many months, the club’s centenary exhibition, curated by Stones’ fan and expert John Bunyard, has attracted many visitors to the shop in Fremlin Walk.
When ITV Meridian heard about the show, they wanted to interview John there, with the displays as a backdrop. John also created some new material.
Ahead of the team’s Fifth Round match at Coventry City on Monday February 26, which is being screened live on ITV4, reporter/cameraman Andy Dickenson and John visited the shop to set up the interview. Trustee Ivan White was there to ensure everything went smoothly and provide refreshments. John has since promoted the shop and display Cup Story told in new Exhibition on the club’s website maidstoneunited.co.uk. The exhibition was also mentioned in an article in the Ipswich matchday programme when the Stones achieved their historic 2-1 triumph at Portman Road.
It is not yet known exactly when the interview will be screened, but is likely to feature in the daily ITV Meridian Tonight programme. Look out for it before the Stones do battle with Coventry City on February 26. MMF and Museum Friends wish the Stones all the very best of luck. Up the Stones!
