Victoria Wallace DL, President, and the Trustees of the Maidstone Museums’ Foundation hosted an Evening Reception at the Maidstone Museum to celebrate our Maidstone Museums.

Victoria opened the evening with an interesting perspective on charitable giving, fresh from her visit to the US. We were also welcomed by Natalie Moor, Maidstone Museums and Heritage Manager.  

Samantha Harris from the Museum Team gave a talk on conservation of artwork by local artist and illustrator, William Alexander (1767 to 1816), and how the Maidstone Museums’ Foundation is helping the Museum to raise monies for this conservation work.

It was an animated and very successful evening, as we had more than 100 guests attend. The Museum was abuzz as guests were introduced to each other over drinks and canapes. There was a mix of people from local Councillors, Trustees, Members and volunteers of various other charitable organisations, to friends and family keen to support the Museum and its vital work for the community.

The President’s Evening raised £895 for the Museum, and more importantly we had 23 new members sign up as Friends of Maidstone Museums’ Foundation. We were delighted to hear from guests that they were impressed at how the Museum and its displays have improved significantly since they last visited, some as long ago as 20 years ago! They will certainly be visiting our Museums again soon, and encouraging others to do so.
