We are fortunate to take possession of a delightful Elmer Elephant in the Pop-Up shop – decorated in a style known as Nettipattam (used to adorn elephants in the Indian State of Kerla).
You may remember that 50 of these delightful creatures were distributed all over town during this Summer, in aid of the Heart of Kent Hospice – there was even an Elmer store opposite our shop, so we witnessed all the exciting activity.
At the end of the Summer display all the Elmer figures were auctioned for charity, raising £400,000.
One of our Friends – Elaine Craven MBE – was successful in her bid for this Elmer. Elaine, founder of Earl Street Employment Consultants and Kerala Moments, wants as many to continue benefitting from its exposure & has loaned it to MMF on an “indefinite temporary loan”.
We are very grateful for such generosity, and have given it pride of place in the shop – come and see!
The photograph shows Elmer with Elaine and MMF Trustee, Ivan White.
