June 2023
Victoria Wallace, a Deputy Lieutenant of Kent, has become the new President of Maidstone Museums’ Foundation. She succeeds Sir Robert Worcester KBE DL, who has been accorded the title of MMF President Emeritus for his contribution to the charity’s work over several years.
Mrs Wallace brings vast experience to the honorary role. She is the former chief executive of Leeds Castle Foundation and Enterprises, and Director General, Commonwealth War Graves Commission. It was appropriate that the MMF Board confirmed her appointment on June 6, 2024, the 80th anniversary of D-Day. Memorials looked after by the CWGC commemorate the thousands who fell on that historic day which heralded the liberation of Europe from Nazi tyranny.
Mrs Wallace said: “I am delighted and honoured to accept this role. The museum is a wonderful asset for our County Town, and should be a very good example of how a local museum can thrive and engage across the generations. I very much hope to be able to make a useful contribution to the life and reputation of Maidstone Museums’ Foundation.“
